 Edward J. Lampe, CPA - Managing Partner

Ed Lampe is the Partner-in-Charge of the Construction Group at Johnston, Gremaux & Rossi, LLP.  Ed is a graduate of St. Mary's College of California with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and a major in Accounting.  

Ed has over twenty-seven years of public accounting experience, concentrating primarily in the area of auditing and accounting, with special emphasis in construction accounting.  He has been involved in the planning and execution of the following:

  • Negotiation and selling of construction businesses
  • Audits and reviews of construction companies
  • Business succession planning
  • Litigation support involving contractors
  • Forecasts and projections
  • Multi-state tax return preparation
  • Construction software selection
  • Labor cost control
  • Profitability analysis
  • Cash management
  • Accounting method issues

He is a member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Additionally, Ed is also very active in many construction related associations including Associated General Contractors of California (AGCC), the Surety Association of Northern California, and the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA).  Ed is treasurer for the American Subcontractors Association of California and has served on the Safety Committee of the Engineering & Utility Contractors Association (EUCA).  He is a past Chairman of the PKF International Task Force for Construction.

 John W. Baggett, CPA - Mid Market Group

John is a Partner of Johnston, Gremaux & Rossi, LLP.  He graduated from California State University, Fresno with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting. 

John has been a partner of JGR since 2000.  Prior to this he was a partner in the Modesto CPA firm of Ciccarelli, Withrow & Baggett and before that a manager with JGR.  John has also been the co-owner and President of a retail golf operation with stores in Concord and Modesto.  He was involved in all aspects of starting and running the day to day operations and eventually selling the business.  This included all aspects of accounting, advertising, purchasing, inventory control, personnel and sales.  Before starting and running the golf operation, John was with an international accounting firm for several years in their San Francisco and Walnut Creek offices.

John’s responsibilities include:

  • Partner review of audited, reviewed and compiled financial statements
  • Supervision of business and individual tax planning
  • Supervision of the preparation of business and individual tax returns
  • Agreed Upon Procedures engagements
  • Supervision of bookkeeping assistance

Additionally, John has been involved in many aspects of JGR over the years including human resources, marketing and managing partner.  John currently oversees the accounting and auditing portion of JGR.

Volunteerism is important to John.  He has coached in various youth sports organizations at various levels.  He also has served on the board of directors and as a committee member of various organizations.

John spends his free time with his family and friends – riding horses, skiing, golfing, hunting and enjoying the outdoors.

 Christopher M. Haley, CPA - Tax Group

Chris Haley is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting and finance.  Chris completed his Masters of Science Degree in Taxation at Golden Gate University. 

Chris is the Tax Partner at Johnston, Gremaux & Rossi, LLP.  Chris has special expertise in real estate, accounting methods such as percent of completion, cash basis, change in accounting methods, and S Corporations and has been a valuable member of JGR since he joined our firm in 1988.

Chris has written numerous articles that have been published in various publications.  His article, Is Cash Basis Accounting Still Viable?, was published in the Journal of Construction Accounting & Taxation.

Chris has assisted clients in various ways including:

  • Tax issues
  • Accounting methods
  • Tax planning and research
  • Tax compliance
  • Multi state tax return preparation
  • Analyzing the financial and tax considerations of various transactions

 Jeffrey T. DiMercurio, CPA - Construction Group

Jeff DiMercurio is a graduate of Cal-Poly – San Luis Obispo with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting.

Jeff was an accountant at JGR from 1987 to 1991.  He left JGR for Metropolitan Life Insurance to be a Sales Manager.  Jeff returned to JGR in July of 1998.  He is in the Construction Group and works with sub-contractors of various sizes.

Jeff has assisted clients in various ways including:

  • Preparation of financial statements
  • Preparation of individual, partnership, corporation, and S Corporation
    income tax returns
  • Tax planning and research
  • Fiduciary returns
  • Personal Financial Statements

 Joseph L. Ivankovich, CPA - Mid Market Group

Joe Ivankovich earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from Sacramento State University with an emphasis in Accounting. 

Joe has over fifteen years of public accounting experience and he brings to JGR a wide range of experience including audit, review, consulting, and tax preparation. 

Joe's area of special competence includes:

  • Economic, financial, operational and management consulting for small to medium sized businesses
  • Financial analysis, cash flow analysis, and projections

Daniel Boele, CPA - Mid Market Group

Daniel Boele is a graduate of St. Mary’s College in Moraga, CA, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. 

Dan first came to JGR in September of 1997 where he started as a staff accountant and eventually worked his way up to a manager in the Mid-Market Group.  Between 1997 and 1999, Dan passed all his exams with high marks and became a licensed CPA.  In 2002, Dan began taking courses in pursuit of a Master’s Degree in Taxation, but after much consideration, decided to assist in anchoring the firm's Accounting & Auditing practice.  Dan services audit, review, and compilation needs for Corporations as well as their annual income tax reporting.

Dan specializes in Manufacturing, Professional Service, and Contractors, as well as servicing the income tax needs of their respective owners.  Dan also heads the firm's practice in audits of Employee Benefit Plans.  The firm has developed a solid niche in auditing Defined Contribution Plans (401(k), 403(b), Profit-Sharing Plans, Safe-Harbor Match Plans, and ESOP’s.  Dan is involved in the AICPA’s Employee Benefit Plan Audit Quality Center and is in tune with constantly changing trends, pronouncements, and focus of the auditing environment.

Dan oversees the in-house training of new staff members and draws on the strengths of others within the firm to develop expertise. 

Dan likes to spend his free time enjoying the youth of his two young daughters.  In addition, time permitting, he is committed to an athletic regimen that prepares him for various 10K, half marathon, and full marathon events in CA.  Dan has a passion for snow skiing and is constantly wishing for early winter snow storms to get his skiing fix before tax season engulfs his time and energy.

Michael Burton, CPA - Construction Group

Michael Burton is a Manager in the Construction Group with Johnston, Gremaux & Rossi, LLP.  He is a 2002 graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Economics with an emphasis in accounting.  Michael has been with JGR since 2004. 

Michael has over seven years of public accounting experience with a special emphasis in audit and attest services.  Michael has assisted clients in various ways including:

  • Reviewed and compiled financial statements
  • Audits of construction contractors
  • Costs certification audits
  • Bookkeeping assistance
  • Tax planning and personal income tax projections
  • Assistance with IRS audits
  • Accounting method issues
  • S vs. C Corp analysis

In his spare time, Michael enjoys outdoor activities including running, biking, and golfing.  He enjoys spending time with his wife Megan and two shetland sheepdogs.

Michael serves on JGR's Accounting and Auditing Committee and is member of the East Bay Chapter of the California Society of CPAs.  Michael is also active in construction related associations including the Surety Association of Northern California, and the Engineering & Utility Contractors Association (EUCA).

Barry Elghanayan, CPA - Technical Manager

Barry Elghanayan is a Technical Manager with Johnston, Gremaux & Rossi, LLP.  He is a graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, and has a Masters of Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting from Hofstra University.  Barry Elghanayan has been with JGR since 2000, with the exception of October 2005 through October 2007. 

Before rejoining JGR, Barry Elghanayan worked for Grassi & Company.  

Barry Elghanayan has been an integral member of the Auditing and Accounting Committee at JGR, focusing on keeping the firm up to date on new pronouncements, as well as enhancing the skills of accountants at all levels.

Through October, 2005, Barry Elghanayan assisted clients in various ways, including:

  • Preparation of audited, reviewed, and compiled financial statements
  • Audits, reviews, and compilations of construction contractors
  • Tax planning and personal income tax projections
  • Preparation of individual, partnership, corporation, and S corporation income tax returns.

From October 2007 through the present date, Barry Elghanayan assisted JGR in the various ways, including:

  • Technical reviewing workpapers and financial statements to ensure compliance with currently in place pronouncements
  • Reviewing workpapers and financial statements to ensure compliance with JGR's quality standards
  • Reviewing workpapers and financial statements in an effort to identify areas where the firm can be more efficient
  • Creating a training program to enhance the skills of accountants

In his spare time, Barry enjoys cooking, traveling, and spending time with his wife and "4 year old trouble maker".

Cristina Gardner - Mid Market Group

Cris Gardner started her accounting career at Johnston, Gremaux & Rossi in the Fall of 2005.  She is a graduate of Sonoma State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration, with a concentration in Accounting.  Cris was very active in the Accounting forum at Sonoma State where she served as assistant vice president and field trip chair. 

Cris’s client base includes manufacturing companies, wholesalers, professional service firms and trucking companies.   She also is a key member of Defined Contribution Plan audits, 401(k)’s, 403(b), Profit Sharing Plans and ESOP’s team. 

Cris is member of the East Bay Volunteer Council and is always looking for new ideas to give back to the community.

An active alumnus, Cris returns each year to Sonoma State to assist in the recruiting process. 

While she is not preparing financial statements, corporate and individual tax returns, cash flow analysis or audits of employee benefit plans, Cris enjoys volunteering, hiking, staying active, spending time with her family and investing in her shoe collection.

Lynn Gardner, CPA/PFS, CFP - Tax Group

Bay Area native and Cal grad Lynn Gardner joined JGR as a senior manager in 2002.  In addition to completing her Master of Science Degree in Taxation at Golden Gate University, Lynn is a Personal Financial Specialist and Certified Financial Planner.  She has twenty-six years of extensive experience in the fields of tax, financial and estate planning.

Lynn started her career at local and regional CPA firms before spending five years with KPMG in San Francisco.

Lynn has been involved in the planning and execution of the following:

  • Coordinate financial planning for high-net-worth individuals
  • Individual, corporate, partnership, and estate tax return preparation and review
  • Tax planning and research
  • The formation and dissolution of businesses
  • Representation of clients before taxing authorities

Lynn originally trained as a teacher and uses those skills to present in-house training and client seminars. She also helped team teach the tax course for the financial planning program at American College.

Lynn is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of CPAs.  She is past president of Diablo Valley Estate Planning Council and served three terms on the Board of Directors of the East Bay Chapter of the California Society of CPAs.  Currently, Lynn is an active member of the Financial Planning Association and the Cal CPA Personal Financial Planning Committee.

In her spare time, Lynn is an avid reader and movie buff.  Lynn and her husband enjoy Cal football and vintage cars.

Kerri Lohr, CPA - Tax Group

Kerri Lohr is a graduate of Malone College in Canton, Ohio, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, double majoring in Accounting and Business Administration.  She moved from Ohio, where she was born and raised, to the Bay Area in the winter of 2000, due to her husband's career.

Kerri became a tax manager at JGR in the summer of 2005.  She began her career at Deloitte & Touche in Columbus, Ohio and eventually transferred to their San Francisco office, spending a total of five and a half years with that firm, before spending an additional two years at Bay Area Regional/Local CPA firms.

Kerri specializes in real estate, construction, and high-net worth individuals.  She has considerable experience in partnership and S-Corporation taxation.

Kerri has been involved in the planning and execution of the following:

  • Multi-state tax preparation and review
  • Preparation and review of individual, partnership, corporation and S- Corporation income tax returns
  • Tax planning and research
  • Analyzing the tax considerations of various transactions

Kerri is extensively involved in the in-house tax trainings of current and new staff members and is in charge of the training of all tax season per diem hires.

Kerri is a member of the California Society of CPAs and the Ohio Society of CPAs, maintaining current CPA licenses in both states.  She is also a member of JGR's tax committee and the human resources committee.

Kerri likes to spend her free time traveling the world with her husband and rooting for her favorite Ohio collegiate and professional sports teams.

Jennifer Lyssand, CPA - Construction Group

Jen Lyssand is a manager with Johnston, Gremaux and Rossi, LLP. She is a graduate of Sonoma State University, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Accounting. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Spanish.

Jen started her career at JGR the Fall of 2001. In 2007, she moved to the private sector for 3 years before returning to JGR in the Fall of 2010.

Jen’s customer responsibilities include:

  • Audited, reviewed and compiled  financial statements of construction companies
  • 401(k) Audits
  • Corporate and individual tax preparation and review
  • Business and individual tax planning

Jane McCamish, CPA - Estates, Trusts and Tax

Jane McCamish is a Senior Manager at Johnston, Gremaux & Rossi, LLP.  She is a graduate of the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and has a Masters Degree in Taxation from Golden Gate University.  Jane has been with JGR for over twenty-eight years.

Jane began her career at a large regional firm in San Francisco, where she met her husband.  After joining JGR, Jane began to specialize in the areas of Estate, Gift, and Trust taxation.  As a member of the Estate Planning Council of Diablo Valley, Jane works together with many outside estate planning advisors (attorneys, bankers and financial planners) to work as a team in the planning and implementation of estate plans.

Jane’s responsibilities at JGR include:

  • Estate Tax planning
  • Income tax planning and research
  • Preparation and review of individual, fiduciary, gift and estate tax returns
  • Trust and Probate Estate Accountings

Jane is on the Tax Committee at JGR and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

In her spare time, Jane enjoys tennis, long bike rides and spending quality time with her two wonderful grandsons.

Kay Mink, MBA - Director of Operations

Kay Mink is the Director of Operations at Johnston, Gremaux, & Rossi, LLP.  She is a graduate of University of Idaho with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Forest Products Business Management and has an M.B.A. from the University of Oregon. Kay joined JGR in June of 2011.

Kay began her career in the Bay area working in marketing for Chevron.  She held management positions in the business services divisions of Bank of America, Automatic Data Processing (ADP) and Ceridian Employer Services.  Prior to joining JGR, Kay helped co-manage a general engineering construction business.

Kay leads the day to day operations of the firm in order to provide quality service to clients. She is the leader on JGR’s Human Resource Committee and serves on the Technology Committee.

Kay enjoys hiking, biking, fishing and skiing with her husband, son, and daughter.

 Adel Mitchell, CPA - Construction Group

Adel Mitchell is a Manager with Johnston, Gremaux & Rossi, LLP.  She graduated with honors from California State University, East Bay (formally Hayward State), with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting.  Adel obtained her degree while concurrently working full-time for a Fremont CPA.

Adel has been with JGR since 2008, returning to her career after taking time off to raise her two children.  Before joining JGR, Adel held positions with an international accounting firm in San Jose and another large local CPA firm in the Bay Area.  Additionally, Adel spent four years with a fortune 500 company as an internal auditor and senior financial accountant.

Adel’s customer responsibilities include:

  • Preparation of audited, reviewed and compiled financial statements;
  • Business and individual tax planning ;
  • Supervision of the preparation of business and individual tax returns;
  • Agreed Upon Procedures engagements; and,
  • Bookkeeping assistance.

Additionally, Adel is involved in staff mentoring and training as well as reengineering projects related to JGR processes.

Volunteerism is also important to Adel.  She has held the Treasurer position for numerous school and sports organizations.

Adel serves both on JGR’s Accounting and Audit and Human Resource Committees.

 Rachel Ruhe, CPA - Construction Group

Rachel Ruhe is a Manager in the Construction Group with Johnston, Gremaux & Rossi, LLP.  She is a 2007 graduate of Saint Mary's College in Moraga, CA, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. 

Rachel started with JGR during tax season of 2006 as an intern, came back to intern again during tax season of 2007 and started full time in the fall of 2007.

Rachel's customer responsibilities include:

  • Reviewed and compiled financial statements
  • Corporate, partnership and individual tax planning, preparation and review
  • Assistance with IRS audits
  • Controller and bookkeeping assistance
  • Construction accounting software implementation and troubleshooting

Rachel serves on JGR's Accounting and Auditing Committee and is active in construction related associations including the Surety Association of Northern California and United Contractors. She has also held the treasurer position for the Construction Millennials of America.
